An interesting juxtaposition in your title: "exchange the cross for the gun." Actually, both are weapons of violence. The cross was the means of execution used by the Romans (not the Jews - please don't repeat that slander) reserved for what they considered the worst offense - challenging the authority of Rome. It is perhaps the most agonizing way to be killed, dying slowly from exposure while your fluids seeped out of your body. I still shudder whenever I see a cross, but I can appreciate the power of turning a symbol of torture into a symbol of love. Feucht, et. al., seem to be doing the reverse - turning love into hate, turning "freedom of religion" into freedom to impose their religion on others.
