As an attorney spending most of my time suing employers who don't pay their workers properly, I've heard this cry of "poverty" all too often. What it really means is that their wealth is where it can't be reached. Whether in corporate shells or offshore accounts, there is an entire industry devoted to protecting wealth. Donald Trump is an expert at this. He has a maze of entities to accumulate wealth, and when they fail (as they often do) he just has them file for bankruptcy and dumps the debt to the workers and others with no skin off his back.
What we need is a Jubilee.
