Here are some more from Jesus:
Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Luke 6:20-21.
Or, paraphrasing the prophet Isaiah:
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour. Luke 4:16-19.
The later is based on the "Jubilee" in the so-called "Old Testament" in which God commands that debts are to be released every seven years, and all the land redistributed after every seventh-seventh (50th) year. I think it is time for a Jubilee today.
