I learned from Dulce Sloan that, in the South after the Civil War, Blacks were the only ones celebrating the Fourth of July. After Reconstruction was aborted, Whites outlawed most Fourth of July celebrations. Ironically, they are now the ones shouting the loudest about their patriotism, while flying the flag of insurrection.
