I think I agree with your ultimate point that we can support Palestinians "without denying the deep Jewish connection to Israel." But I am a bit disturbed by the long discussion of DNA. This evokes the "racial purity" the Nazis took to deadly extremes, and which the right-wing government of Israel is trying to impose through new immigration laws. I'm not arguing with the DNA evidence itself, but with the use of such evidence as supporting a claim to any particular land.
It also reminds me of an argument I had many years ago with a Native American, who was trying to tell me to go back to where I came from. Where is that? My answer today would be that Wherever I go, I am where I came from. I am always a stranger in a strange land; and yet I am always home. I claim no land, but I am responsible for all land.
