I would not say that. My cousin's husband was one of the leaders of that Uprising - one of the handful who survived. A few ill-equiped, half-starving Jews threw the might of the Nazi army out of the Ghetto and held out longer than the entire country of Poland had. The Nazis had to literally bomb the Ghetto to rubble in to take control over it, and even then faced Jews throwing themselves at tanks with molotov cocktails. Yes, nearly all were killed, but I would not measure success by the number of casualties or survivors. We all will die; our "success" is measured by what we do while still alive.
I thought about my cousin and the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising a lot this last year. My country (USA) has been looking more and more like 1934 Germany. If we continue down that path, should I, would I, do what my cousin did? I do not have an answer, but the fact that I find myself asking the question is deeply disturbing.
