Laura:
I don't view being treated properly as a "privilege" but as a right every person should have. That every person does not have that means there is something wrong with our society which needs to be fix. No matter what intention you or I have when we speak of privilege, I fear it just frames the problem instead, as you put it, who has "benefitted over" who. That just continues to divide us.
What I view as my own "privilege" growing up was my grandparents' stories of their persecution in Europe, how (in graphic detail) nearly all the relatives they left behind were murdered, and how the few survivors resisted and fought back, against all odds. That was a "privilege" I had which allowed me to pay attention to the suffering of others, and endeaver to do something about it, no matter who it was persecuting who.
I am writing more on this, in a series on Black-Jewish relations in An Injustice!. I would appreciate your comments.

PS: As to obedience to God, I have a different point of view on that as well. See https://qcp.medium.com/arguing-with-god-9e2f24a6868d
