Perhaps "giving away 100%" is not an apt way to put it, but it is certainly not "inhumane and unethical." For 100% of nothing is nothing; and nothing is what our possessions really are. What Jesus, and many of the other Essene sects of the time, practiced was the realization that possessions themselves are an illusion, and so everything among the disciples was shared, and not "possessed" by any one.
This was well-expressed by Ursula LeGuin, through her character Shevek in her novel The Dispossessed :
"We know that there is no help from us but from one another, that no hand will save us if we do not reach out our hand. And the hand that you reach out is empty, as mine is. You have nothing. You possess nothing. You own nothing. You are free. All you have is what you are, and what you give."
