So, if I do "not join with folks like" you, then I "have no room to speak.?" That sounds like shutting the conversation down right there, refusing to listen to anyone but "folks like" you. This is contradictory to your asserted goal (which I share) of a "wholistic perspective which condemns theft and murder in all places and times." I contend (if you will listen) that this goal can only be achieved if we truly listen to those we do not agree with - if we argue instead of fight.
