The Pacific Justice Foundation has made the perverse argument that the Thirteenth Amendment supports overturning Roe v. Wade. This is a typical conservative strategy of turning the law upside down, with Humpty-Dumpty logic straight out of Through the Looking Glass.

I make the reverse argument - that the Thirteenth Amendment protects the right of women to control their own bodies. In fact, slavery was dependent on maintaining control over the reproductive organs of Black women, and abortion was a common method of resistance to slavery.
