This is very different from what the First Amendment to the US Constitution:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, . . . ."

While the Universal Declaration of Human Rights establishes a right to "freedom of . . . religion," the US Constitution prohibits government from mandating or prohibiting religion.

Your article interprets the Universal Declaration to be the same as the First Amendment (at least on paper) - a negative prohibition on interference, rather than a positive grant of a right.

I agree with this. Unfortunately, the US Supreme Court has interpreted the First Amendment as a way to impose the religion of some onto others.
