Thoughtful article. I would argue that these terms - "rights," "justice" and "equality" "remain largely unintelligible" in the West as well. These terms are commonly invoked, but rarely with any understanding of what they mean. Perhaps we all need to avoid these meaningless labels and focus on the ideas themselves. I tend to agree with Lao Tzu, who said “To order, to govern, is to begin naming; when names proliferate it’s time to stop.” — Tao Te Ching # 32.
