Tim - How do we confront "how racism and relative privilege have torpedoed class solidarity?" W.E.B. DuBois asked that in his book Black Reconstruction. Alexander Saxton asked that in his book The Indispensable Enemy. I asked that in my re-write of Lucile Eaves' book (See https://medium.com/the-shadow/the-paradox-of-lucile-eaves-5e59b825608b). We are only left with more questions.
While I don't have an answer, I think identity politics, "identitiarian left " as you call it, only makes the problem worse by emphasizing the supposed differences between us. We need, somehow, to recognize our common interest, rather than torpedo solidarity by focusing on our differences.
