Unlike after the Civil War, there must be consequences for this insurrection. I’m not just referring just to those who physically stormed the Capitol building, but also and especially those who incited them.

Those who incited this attempt to overthrow the government of the United States of America by force and violence must be prosecuted to the same extent, under the same standards, as Communists after WWII and Wobblies after WWI, especially those of color.

Look around your own jurisdiction. Those who made public statements supporting insurrection, who encouraged violence, should not only be denounced, but removed from their political office and professions. The Republican Party itself may be subject disqualification, the same as the Communist Party in the 50’s. See, e.g. California Election Code sec. 5102.

Mercy requires Repentance. Conciliation cannot occur without Consequences.
