Why do we need to call anyone names at all, good or bad? I'm saying we need to respond to the behaviour, not label the person. That response needs to be measured by the behaviour itself. If it is the racist remarks you mentioned in your article, there is room for discussion; but calling them a "racist" just shuts down the discussion. If it is lynching - well, maybe the only response is what some of my family did. A label was put on them to justify the murder of nearly all of them in Europe. The response of some was to take up arms and fight back, such as my cousin's husband who was a leader of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was murdered just as he was launching his Poor People's Campaign to unite Black and White poor. He was murdered to prevent that united front from happening - to keep people divided. Shall we validate his murder by continuing those divisions?
