You point out the stupidity of racism. The reality is that race does not exist, but racism does. All these categories - Black, Bi-Racial, Mixed, etc. - are just categories made up to arbitrarily divide people. Whatever we call Halle Berry today, there is no question how she would be treated if she was transported back to the Antebellum South, like Octavia Butler's main character in Kindred. Whether or not my family considered themselves "Jews" did not stop the Nazis from killing them.
That is why I appreciate your CHOSSA term, for focusing on heritage rather than identity. Heritage needs to be uncovered and passed on. But heritage should not limit what you aspire to do.
