Your disillusionment is with Christianity as practiced today (including, I am sad to say, in many Black Churches), rather than the real Jesus and his actual teachings. As Stephen Stills said: "I'm not sure if I want White America to remember or forget, that Jesus Christ was the first non-violent revolutionary." I doubt he was the first, but he was definitely executed (crucified) by Rome as a revolutionary for opposing their oppression. Yet, somehow, his teachings were twisted to become the tool of Roman oppression, and the oppression by Rome's successors to this day.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., among others, reached back to those original teachings for inspiration. As he said in his last speech in Memphis:

"It's alright to talk about 'streets flowing with milk and honey,' but God has commanded us to be concerned about the slums down here, and his children who can't eat three square meals a day."

That is our true religious calling today.

Wherever I go, I am where I came from. Always a stranger in a strange land; yet always home. I claim no land, but take responsibility for all land.
